BORROWING PRIVILEGES
Your student photo ID card is your library card. You must have your student ID card with you in order to check out materials or look at reserve/textbook materials.

Circulating Items
Books, Videos, DVDs, CDs, audio cassettes, pamphlets, and paperback books are available for check out. Most items are available for a two-week check out period. Visual media materials are available for one-week at a time.

Reserve Items
Reserve materials that instructors have put aside for use while taking the class are available at the Circulation counter. Reserve materials are assigned specific check out periods by the instructors and some items may be designated as library use only. Reserve materials are for Cypress College and SCE student use only and students must present their campus photo ID card.

Textbook Collection
In order to check out a textbook, you must: Provide the name and course number of the class (example: English 100) Provide the title of the book you want Present either a Cypress College student ID card or a School of Continuing Education ID card. No other cards are accepted. The library will accept your printout of classes one time. Textbooks may be used for 2 hours and only in the library (2nd floor LLRC). Textbooks never leave the library for any reason. Overdue fines are $1.00 per hour.

Special Collections/Archives
The Cypress College Library special collections/archives room houses Cypress College specific materials. Most of these materials hold historical value to the college and collection. Some items are available for check out; however most items are to be used in the Special Collections room. See a librarian for assistance.

Library Use Only
Reference materials, periodicals, newpapers, the textbook collection, some materials in special collections and some reserve materials are designated library use only.

Reciprocal Agreements
The Cypress College Library has reciprocal borrowing agreements with Fullerton College, Orange Coast College, Golden West College, and Cal State Long Beach. Cypress College students may borrow materials with their Cypress College photo ID from these neighboring libraries. Students from Fullerton College, Orange Coast College, Golden West College, and Cal State Long Beach may borrow materials from Cypress College with their current college ID cards. Interlibrary Loan
When material is not readily available at the Cypress College Library, the librarian can help you determine if you should place an Interlibrary Loan request. Cypress College students, faculty, and staff are eligible for Interlibrary Loan services. An Interlibrary Loan request form can be obtained at the Reference Desk. Be sure to sign the request form and indicate the maximum amount you would be willing to pay to obtain the materials. The Cypress College Library does not charge our patrons for this service; however other lending libraries may charge. Every attempt will be made to obtain the material free of charge. Please allow at least two weeks for an Interlibrary Loan request. Patrons are limited to two requests per week. Please contact the Circulation Department at (714) 484-7125 if you have any questions about the status of your Interlibrary Loan request.
