HOW DO I ... ?

How Do I ...Find Articles?

The research tools used to find articles are different than the tools used for finding books. To find articles from magazines, journals, and newspapers, you will need to use at least one of the databases available at the Cypress College Library.

A general research database covering a wide variety of topics is EBSCOhost, or you can choose a database that is geared towards your particular subject. For help in selecting the best database, check with a reference librarian or click here for a list of databases by subject.

Some databases give you citations to articles while others include the entire article online. EBSCOhost is customized to let you know whether or not the Cypress College Library carries the subscription in print and/or in electronic format.

The best source for current newspaper articles is from NewsBank or ProQuest. These databases provide up-to-date full-text access to newspapers across the country.

These databases also allow you access to their information from off-campus if you are a Cypress College student, faculty, or staff. See a reference librarian for user id and password information to access the databases off-campus.

To get started finding articles, click here for "Articles".

If you are having difficulty finding articles on your topic or are only finding citations to articles the Cypress College Library does not own, please ask the reference librarian for assistance. The reference librarian can assist you with finding additional resources or locating those articles at other libraries.
