Our thoughts are with the family of Dr. Tom Cooper, who passed away yesterday morning, April 15, 2014.  Dr. Cooper was a long time counselor here at Cypress College.  After he retired he returned to the campus many times in a volunteer capacity, including as part of the Foundation committee responsible for selecting each year’s outstanding alumnus.  Memorial services will be held on Monday April 21, 2014, at 5 p.m.

He was a charter faculty member of the college. As a member of that original group, Dr. Cooper set up the Chemistry Department and taught Chemistry, Biology, Math and Astronomy. In addition, he served as the Student Activities advisor for 20 years from the college’s opening through the 1980s. In 2001, he returned from retirement to again lead Student Activities for a semester on an interim basis.
