Measure J — a proposed bond that would facilitate renovation of the Science, Engineering, and Math and Fine Arts buildings, and foster construction of a Veterans Resource Center — is currently .6% short of the necessary 55% approval threshold. All precincts are reporting, but number of absentee and provisional ballots remain to be counted. An update will be provided this afternoon by the Orange County Registrar of Voters.

The YES on J campaign provided this update on their Facebook page at 5:27 this morning:

Yes on Measure J: All precincts are reporting. We’re .6% short of our goal. Thankfully, there are still 40,000 absentee ballots estimated to still be counted, 66,000 absentee ballots that were returned at polling places, and another 38,513 provisional ballots cast. Keep your fingers crossed.
Because the vote is so close, a definitive answer may not be known this week. @Cypress will keep you updated. We’ll also have a recap of other election news related to Cypress College, including alumni who were elected to the Aliso Viejo City Council and the Anaheim Joint Union High School District Board of Trustees. Faculty member Rebecca Gomez was also reelected to the Tustin City Council.
