Biography


Anna C. Morrison is an adjunct professor who instructs various levels of English composition. She is also an author of children’s books, including Silly Moments and Green Gooey Goop, with Squirrel Superhighway, or It's Good to be a Dog currently pending illustration, all published through Guardian Angel Publishing.  In addition, she has worked with Adapt Courseware as a writing consultant on three video course projects, including college skills and two levels of English composition.  She received her MFA in Writing from Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky, and her BA in English, Creative Writing, from California State University, San Bernardino.  She is an active member of SCBWI and lives in Huntington Beach, California.

English 060, College Writing Preparation

English 060 prepares students for English 100, English Composition.  English 060 assists students by reviewing grammatical skills and several different rhetorical modes of composition writing.  This class is a warm-up for the more rigorous composition writing found in English 100 that will prepare students for writing in all of their other classes.  English 060 helps students to increase confidence and improve in their writing skills.  It provides students with the knowledge required to achieve academic success in the classes that follow.

Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL)

The Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL) is an excellent, comprehensive resource for all things writing-related, including grammar, composition, and citation methods.  A wide variety of visual examples are provided, as well as a video series and several PPT presentations.  The engagement section provides quizzes and answers for self-checking improvement.

Study Guides and Strategies

Study Guides and Strategies is a website that offers information regarding study skills techniques, such as the SQ3R method for reading textbooks.  It also offers a detailed outline for a standard five-paragraph essay and time management tips for students.

OneLook Dictionary Search

OneLook Dictionary Search enables students to find definitions of words and phrases from a wide variety of online dictionary sources.  Whether or not a student knows how to spell the word, OneLook will most likely find it.  A reverse dictionary is offered, as well as the word of the day, etymology, antonyms, synonyms, audio pronounciation, and examples of words used in sentences.
