Welcome to my my page. My name is James Tapia and I am an Adjunct Professor here at Cypress College. I have been teaching at Cypress College, in the Human Services Department, for almost 8 years. I really love what I do.

I am a graduate of Southern California College (SCC) now known as Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, CA. I graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.

I obtained my Masters Degrees in Counseling Psychology in 1999 from National University.

I have been employed by a local government agency for 21 years. During this time I have worked primarily as a social worker. I have worked with children and families, and in the areas of domestic violence, drugs and alcohol and anger management.

A Bit More About Me

I am an avid reader and read between 50 to 100 books a year. I read on every subject, but love to read biographies and history.  Some of my favorite authors are: Tom Clancy, W.E.B. Griffin, Stephen Ambrose, and Jonathan Kellerman. I also love soccer and coaching my son.

As an Adjunct Professor I do not have a office on campus. However, I am able to reserve a office for student conferences if needed. Should you like to arrange a conference please send me an e-mail and conference arrangements will be made.
