• FOCUS (Focusing On Communication, Understanding, and Socialization)

FOCUS is a support program for Cypress College students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome, social anxiety, or other social-cognitive disorders.  Students attend weekly workshops, participate in activities to boost communication and social skills, and may participate in the mentorship component.  Students will learn how to navigate the campus, socialize with peers, discover how to talk to professors, and acquire strategies for handling frustration, anger, and stress.  For more information, contact the DSS office or email lyates@cypresscollege.edu

During the fall 2017 semester, FOCUS workshops will take place on Tuesdays from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm in room CCCPLX 405.  Students are welcome to show up; there’s no need to reserve a spot ahead of time.


• Study and Learning Strategies (SLS) Program

The Study and Learning Strategies Program provides support to students needing assistance with enhancing their study and learning skills.  The SLS Counselor will provide one-on-one sessions to Cypress College students to develop study strategies, enhance learning strengths, and boost skill weaknesses.
