Biography

Dear Cypress College Student,

Are you enrolled in one of my courses?  Considering taking one?  If so, these are my promises to you:

  • You will have the opportunity to improve your college reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.
  • You will work hard and participate actively in a friendly, fair, and respectful environment.
  • Each class meeting will be organized, purposeful, and fun (I hope).
  • I will know you by name (well, maybe not the first week).

As a career educator, I have been enthusiastically teaching full time at Cypress College for the past four years.  When I am not reading, writing, or thinking critically, I am riding my bike with my husband, playing with my grown children, jogging with my friends, or jiggling my brand-new grandbaby.

See you in class,

Cathy Franklin

Recommended Course

ENGL 106 C Critical Thinking

This critical reading, writing, and thinking course helps students develop analytical and evaluation skills.

English 106 meets the CSU Critical Thinking requirement and two Cypress College AA Degree Requirements:  Analytical Thinking and Reading Proficiency.

Do you ever suspect that you are being manipulated, tricked, or deceived, but you aren't sure how?  Take English 106 to discover the art of critical analysis.  Don't be fooled!
