Biography


BACKGROUND

Carol has been a Professor of Nursing at Cypress College since 1994.  Her background is in medical-surgcial, orthopaedic, and gerontic nursing.  She worked for many years at the University of California Irvine Medical Center as an Orthopaedic Clinical Nurse Specialist.

NURS 108 Orthopaedic Patient Care

This class is a one day comprehensive overview of nursing care for the orthopaedic patient.  It covers musculoskeletal assessment, injuries and conditions, fractures and fracture management, total joint replacement, spinal surgery, and orthopaedic complications.  Content is based on standards of care from NAON - National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses.

HS 30 Calculations for Medications

This course covers basic math skills, measurement systems and calculation methods involved in medication administration.  Ratio and proportion is taught as a method to calculate dosages.  A workbook and computer tutorials are used in this interrative course designed to increase confidence in medication calculations.
