Biography


Life is full when you see it through the prism of the arts. I hope you will consider the courses I'm offering to round out your perspective.You will find my teaching style to be fun and light.  It's my pleasure to create an exciting experience for you in education.

I have been the coordinator of the Commercial Music program at Cypress since 1999. I hold a Bachelor of Music in music composition from California State University Los Angeles and an Master of Music in commercial music from CSULA. I taught at Pasadena City College  for 5 years and Fremont Middle School in Pomona for 6 years.

About Myself  From 1978-1990 I was a producer/staff songwriter for Almo Irving Publishing Company in Hollywod. I have co-written at least 16 songs on Gold and Platinum albums including "Save the Overtime" by Gladys Knight a #1 Billboard in 1983. I also wrote for Shalamar "DeadGiveaway"  which was nominated for a Grammy in 1982 for best Duo or Group.  I received an ASCAP Award in 1988 for"Show Me The Way" by  Regina Belle. I have worked with artists such as Janet Jackson, Shalamar, Whispers, Atlantic Starr, The Jetts, Evelyn Champagne King, SOS Band, Lakeside, Midnight Star, Dynasty and Leon Sylvers. 

I am currently teaching The Business of Music, Marketing and Promotion for the Music Industry and Popular Songwriting, as well as The History of Rock and American Popular Music History. I hope to see you in the very near future.

 I have been a member of ASCAP, A.F. of M. local 47, MACCC, NEA, CTA, SCSBOA.
