Biography

About Me

I am in my 9th year at Cypress College as professor of music.  I hold a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies from Western Michigan University, a Master's of Music and a Doctorate of Musical Arts, both in Jazz Performance, from the University of Miami.  My education and performance career has provided me opportunities to work with many great jazz players in the United States and abroad.  As a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Television & Recording Artists (AFTRA) I have sung on soundtracks including the recent "Land of the Lost", "Tooth Fairy", "John Carter", "The Lorax" films.  I am thrilled to have the chance each day to talk about, perform with and teach others about this precious art- MUSIC!

I teach Jazz History, American Popular Music, private voice, coordinate the Applied Music Program and conduct the Cypress College Vocal Jazz Ensemble.  As chair of the department, I'm working with our talented faculty to develop curriculum and provide a wonderful learning experience for our students.
