A veteran staple of the Southern California baseball, Demarest comes to Cypress after retiring from a celebrated three decade career at La Quinta. Demarest finished his high school coaching career as the only coach to be ranked in the top three in both wins (753) and winning percentage (.780). His accomplishments include three CIF Championships, seven CIF Final appearances, and 22 League Championships. He has also produced four current Major League players in Bobby Crosby, Ian Kennedy, Ian Stewart, and former Cypress Charger Gerald Laird. After retiring in 2007, Demarest was inducted into the National High School All-Sports Hall of Fame and the National High School Baseball Hall of Fame. As a player, he was an Academic All-American for Long Beach State and is a Hall of Fame Inductee.
