Cypress Highlights: Kalmen appeared in 11 games for Cypress in 2006 posting a 1-0 record on 20.2 innings of work. He earned a save against Oxnard pitching three innings allowing just one run.
Pitched in 18 games for the Chargers his freshman year with a 5-2 record and a 2.37 ERA in 49.33 innings.

High School Highlights: Pitched a complete game shutout win over Crespi High School at Dodger Stadium in the CIF championship game. Named to first team all-league and CIF selection. Struck out more than 100 batters.
