Palm Desert, Calif. - Cypress got their first loss out of the way and took it out on their next two opponents San Bernardino Valley and San Diego City. The Chargers first blew out San Bernardino 13-2 and then San Diego 8-3. Freshman Brandon Laird had two standout games going 6 for 8 at the plate with 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
Cypress pitching was not to be outdone as Charger pitchers combined to strikout 18 in the two games. Sophomore Nick Rhodes notched his second win of the season pitching over four innings against San Bernardino Valley striking out 5. Freshman Josh Tamba had his first collegiate start against San Diego State pitching over 6 innings allowing just two hits while striking out 6. Veteran sophomores Garrett Green and Joel Weeks had 2 RBIs each against San Diego City while sophomore Mike Vass went 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs including a homerun.
The Chargers have a short break before traveling again to the Community College of Southern Nevada for another three game stand. The Chargers will face the home team Southern Nevada Friday at 5:00 pm.
