Oxnard Can’t Keep up with Charger Scoring

Final Stats

Cypress, Calif. - Cypress were scoreless their first two innings but quickly picked up the pace scoring 10 in the next 6 innings. Oxnard could not keep scoring 2 runs to lose to the Chargers 10-2. Sophomore Mike Vass got his second homerun this season with a 3 run homerun.

Scoring began in the third for Cypress as Garrett Green singled to score Mike Evola. The Chargers quickly got some insurance runs in the fourth as Matt Wallach singled to score Brandon Laird which was followed by Vass’s three-run homerun to score Wallach and Matt Miller. The lead expanded in the fifth when Garret Green’s base running scored off of a passed balll. The Chargers took an inning off of scoring before the seventh when Miller doubled to score Garret Green. The Chargers ended the game in the eighth with 3 more runs Garret Green tripled to score Evola and Grant Rachlin and then Green scored off of an error. Garret Green ended the game going 4 for 5 with 3 runs and 3 RBIs. Designated hitter Matt Miller finished going 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run. Sophomore right-hander Mark Serrano earned his second win this season pitching 6 innings allowing just 3 hits and striking out 5.

Cypress moves on to tomorrow’s game against Solano where they will look to finish their home series undefeated. They will face off tomorrow at noon.
