Charger Bats on Fire against Solano

Blaine Wilson Wilson belted his first and second homer of the season Sunday.
Chargers score a season high 18 runs against Solano.

February 26, 2006

Final Stats

Cypress, Calif. - Cypress broke open what looked like a close game as Solano could not find a pitching answer to the Charger bats. Cypress scoring kept going to defeat Solano 18-3. Sophomore Blaine Wilson notched his first and second homerun of the season against Solano. Both were three-run homers. Wilson finished 3 for 3 on the day with 7 RBIs.

Solano started the scoring in the second with 2 runs which were answered immediately by the Chargers with 3 runs on Wilson’s first homerun. Solano answered back the next inning to tie the game in the third which was brief as the Chargers broke open the game with 4 runs in the third. Brandon Laird batted in a run followed by a Matt Miller double to score Laird followed by an RBI by Mike Vass which was followed by an RBI by Joel Weeks. The momentum continued in the fourth with another RBI by Laird. The fifth inning was more of the same as Wilson doubled for a run and then scored on an error which Weeks also scored on. By this time the score was already 11-3 and the subs came in for the sixth. The bleeding would not stop for Solano as Wilson hit his second homerun of the day scoring Kenneth Lusk and Shane Aguilar. The Chargers were not done in the eighth with four more runs as Wilson’s replacement Ben Ornelas hit his own three-run homer to score Justin Ariki and Lusk again. Grant Rachlin had the final RBI of the day scoring Mike Evola. Casey Arbiso earned his first win this game pitching 2 innings without a hit.

Cypress will take a few days off before heading into a much tougher environment on the road to start Orange Empire Conference play. The Chargers will head to Irvine Valley Thursday to face the Lasers at 2:00 pm.
