Fullerton, Calif. - The Chargers were excited to play at Goodwin Field at Cal State Fullerton for a rare night game against the Hornets. Fullerton looked more charged and the Cypress pitchers could not execute ending the game with a 5-11 loss to the last place Hornets. Cypress still holds on to their first place spot in conference but falls to a dangerous three game lead with four games remaining. Sophomore third baseman Joel Weeks was a bright spot for the Chargers going 2 for four including a homerun, his second this season.
The teams held each other scoreless for the first two and a half innings before the Hornets stung first with a run in the third. Cypress bounced back to take the lead in the fourth. Sophomore shortstop Taylor Green led off by reaching base on an error. Sophomore outfielder Mike Vass continued his hitting streak to make it ten games in a row by doubling to score Green. Vass moved to third on a fly ball by outfielder Blaine Wilson to setup for sophomore designated hitter Matt Miller. Miller singled to center allowing Vass to score giving the Chargers the 2-1 lead to end the top of the third.

With two outs, sophomore outfielder Garrett Young reached first on an error. Green was up next and hit his 31st career double to score Young. Freshman first baseman Brandon Laird made it back to back doubles scoring Green to make it 6-4. Fullerton would not let Cypress creep back in as they scored two of their own in the seventh to maintain the 4 run lead.
