Palm Desert, Calif. - Cypress avoided the rain Thursday afternoon heading to the College of the Desert for the first in a series of three games there. The Chargers took on Compton to start and put up 13 runs for the 13-5 win. Sophomore first baseman Stephen Kaupang paced Cypress with a solo homerun going two-for-three with two RBI on the day.

The Chargers gave up two runs to Compton to fall behind after an inning. Cypress quickly made up the ground and more with a big nine run inning in the second and coasted to the eight run win.

Freshman second baseman Mike Barnhill also had a homerun with a two run shot in the second. Sophomore outfielders Jonathan Hurst and Ricky Eisenberg and freshman third baseman Dimitri DeLaFuente all went two-for-three with two RBI. Freshman Dylan Kuhn earned the win improving to 1-0.

Cypress improves to 4-2 and moves on to Friday’s action to take on San Bernardino. The two meet up tomorrow at 2:00 pm at College of the Desert.
