Chargers Stay Steady in Third Straight Win

Palm Desert, Calif. - Cypress played their second of three straight games at College of the Desert Friday taking on San Bernardino Valley College. The Chargers put up a second straight 13 hit game on the way to an 11-6 victory. Sophomore catcher Parker Berberet led the Chargers with two homeruns for a total three RBI.
The Chargers scored first with a few in the second and third to take the lead. Cypress kept hitting and the defense kept San Bernardino at bay. Freshman Ray Hanson made his second collegiate start and picked up his second win. He pitched five innings with five strikeouts allowing just three hits. Sophomores Jayson Huett and Matt Wolfrom finished it off for Cypress.
Berberet’s offense was bolstered by strong performances by freshman third baseman Christian Ramirez with three hits and sophomore first baseman Stephen Kaupang with two hits. Freshman second baseman Mike Barnhill picked up two RBI.
Cypress improves to 5-2 and finishes their trip to the Desert tomorrow taking on host College of the Desert at 6:00 pm.
