Chargers Fall Victim to Pirates

Costa Mesa, Calif. - Cypress took on Orange Coast for the second time this season after the Chargers won the first round that included a controversial ejection. This time, the Pirates played at full strength and Cypress was unable to overcome the Pirate bullpen losing 10-2. Sophomore right fielder Christian Ramirez led Cypress with a run and an RBI.
The Chargers started quick as Ramirez led the game off with a solo homerun over the right field wall. Orange Coast quickly answered with three runs to take the lead. They held their lead and extended it with a run in the fourth. Cypress finally scored again in the seventh. Freshman designated hitter Corey LeVier led off with a single down the left field line. After two outs, freshman shortstop Johnathan Morales hit into an error as LeVier scored an unearned run. Cypress’s scoring ended there while Coast piled on ten runs.
Freshman Gabriel Garcia suffered the loss falling to 3-4 on the season. He allowed five earned runs on five hits while striking out four.
Cypress falls to 17-7 and 6-2 in conference. They will take on the Pirates in their third and final matchup in conference Thursday at home at 2:00 pm.
