Mission Viejo, Calif. - The Chargers took on Saddleback for the third time this season on the road in Mission Viejo. Cypress was still unable to figure out the Gauchos falling to Saddleback 3-1 losing to the Gauchos for the third time this season. The game took just two hours thanks to strong defense.
Cypress gave up the lead early as Saddleback drove in a two-run homerun in the first. They scored their third run in the third while the Chargers continued to strand runners on base.
The Chargers finally got on the board in the sixth. Freshman left fielder David Silvas singled through the left side, advanced to second on an error, and then third on a single by sophomore designated hitter Jonathan Hurst. Silvas tagged up and scored off a sacrifice fly by Dimitri DeLaFuente.
Freshman Gabriel Garcia suffered the loss pitching the first 7.2 innings allowing three runs and striking out four. He falls to 4-5 on the season.
Cypress falls to 25-12 and 13-6 tied for second with Santa Ana and two games behind first place Orange Coast. The Chargers begin a two-game series against Riverside Thursday. Cypress defeated Riverside earlier this season 20-5. The two meet again Thursday at Cypress at 2:00 pm.
