Chargers Command the Action in Fourth Straight

Final Stats
Cypress, Calif. - Cypress closed out their four game home series Wednesday taking on Mt. Sac. The Chargers stayed on track with their fourth straight commanding win, 8-2. Sophomore right-hander Gabriel Garcia earned the win with five innings of work allowing one earned run. Garcia improves to 2-0 on the season.
Cypress chipped one in immediately with lead-off hitter, sophomore Matt Avery reaching after being hit by a pitch, hitting second on a failed pickoff, third on a single, and then home to score on a fielder’s choice. The Mounties immediately evened the score at 1-1 in the next half inning.
The Chargers attacked in the second with four more runs. After two straight walks, sophomore catcher Dimitri DeLaFuente drove in a run with an RBI double. With two runners on, sophomore shortstop Johnathan Morales cleared the bases with a three-run homerun to lead 5-1.
Cypress added a couple in the fifth as well. Freshman designated hitter Bryan Aanderud hit an RBI single and then scored a run off an RBI single by sophomore first baseman Ben Waldrip. Avery added a run in the sixth with a solo homerun, his third in two days. Mt. Sac was able to score one more in the eighth but Cypress was far enough ahead to coast to the win.
Cypress (5-1) has just a day off before going on their annual road trip to Las Vegas over the weekend. The Chargers will start with host Southern Nevada Friday at 6:30 pm.
