Cypress Highlights: In his sophomore season for Cypress, Shimizu appeared in 15 games holding batters to a .229 average. He posted a 2.55 ERA with one start and 17.2 innings pitched with 14 strikeouts. In his start against Cuesta, Shimizu allowed three hits and just one earned run with two strikeouts.
Pitched in over 3 innings for the Chargers his freshman year striking out 3 batters.

High School Highlights: A three-year varsity standout for Cerritos, Shimizu was a two-time Most Valuable player and earned the coach's award all four years.

Notes: Most memorable sports moment was playing baseball in Japan.
