Cypress Highlights: After transferring from University of Nevada Reno, Vass came to Cypress and made an immediate impact with his bat. Vass led the Chargers at the plate batting .402. His 15 homeruns was good enough for fourth on the all time single season records for Cypress. He totaled 131 total bases with 14 doubles, 59 RBI and 49 runs scored. Vass led the team in multiple hit and multiple RBI games with 18 and 14 respectively. He also led the team in stolen bases with 13. Against Saddleback, Vass drove in seven runs while belting two homeruns and going three for three at the plate. His outstanding efforts earned him First Team all-Orange Empire Conference, All-American honors, and was inducted into the Cypress College Hall of Fame.
At University of Nevada Reno: Appeared in 20 games for the Wolfpack starting 12. Had a batting average of .234 with 7 runs.
High School Highlights: A four year varsity standout, Vass was named to first team all-Century league three times, played for the 2003 Milwaukee Brewers area code team and won a CIF championship in 2002.
