Associated Student Scholarship Deadline

This year the Associated Students have designated $7,000 in scholarship money to deserving Cypress College students.

All applications are reviewed by a screening committee, and the recipients are announced at the annual Scholarship Reception in May. The applications must be turned in accompanied by a personal statement in standard format, explained on the application form itself.

Associated Students Scholarship Criteria

The following criteria apply to all scholarships:

• Must be a currently registered student at Cypress College
• Must have had community and/or campus involvement during the 2017-2018 academic year
• Must have an overall G.P.A. of at least 2.5 while a student at Cypress College
• Must have paid the A.S. Activity Fee for the current semester 2018
• Must have enrolled and maintained at least 6 units during the 2018 Fall and 2018 Spring Semester

Associated Student Scholarship Descriptions

Outstanding Service to School and Community – (Two) – $1,000

Special Requirements: Must be a student(s) who is (are) transferring to a four-year university/college in the Fall 2018. This award is presented to a student(s) who has (have) been active in campus and/or community affairs and has (have) unselfishly given of their time to improve the quality of life within the area they volunteered.

Outstanding Service to School and Community – (One) – $800

Same requirements as above except the student does not need to transfer to a four-year university to receive this award.

Outstanding Student Leader – (Six) – $400

This award is presented to six students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities while students at Cypress College 2017 – 2018, leadership qualities most notable: Communication and organization skills, ability to work effectively with individuals or groups, and responsive to the needs, values and interests of others.

Service-Above-Self Award – (Six) – $300

An award of $300 will be presented to six students who have given unselfishly of their own time in order to improve or add to the quality of campus life during the 2017-2018 school year.
