In his 16th season as the Charger head man, Bottiaux has been with the Cypress program since joining the staff as an assistant coach during the 1987-88 campaign when the Chargers reached the state tournament semifinals.
In his first 10 years as the head coach, Bottiaux directed the Chargers to five appearances in the Southern California Regional Playoffs.
Bottiaux came to Cypress after ten successful seasons at Sonora High School in La Habra. He led the Raiders to the CIF II-A championship in 1983 and a runner-up finish in 1984. Bottiaux, who was selected CIF Coach of the Year in 1983, also directed Sonora to the Freeway League Championships in 1982 and 1984.
As a player, Bottiaux was an all-City choice at Henry Ford High School in Michigan. He graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Social Science and earned a master’s degree in Education at Cal State Fullerton.
He lives in Placentia with his wife Joy and has four children, Kim, Tom, Paul, and Megan. He also has three grandchildren.
