San Luis Obispo, Calif. – Cypress drove to San Luis Obispo Friday to start their season at the Cuesta College tournament facing West Los Angeles in their first round game. The Chargers could not get their offense going scoring just 49 points in a 49-67 loss to West L.A. Freshman forward Kourtney Maxim started his collegiate career with 21 points going 9-18 from the field adding 6 rebounds.
Unfortunately for Cypress, Maxim’s 21 points was nearly half of their total on the night. Freshman center Rodrigo Carbajal contributed on the boards with a team high 8 rebounds while sophomore forward Jeff Comminey started his sophomore season with 9 points.
The Chargers move into the loser’s bracket of the Cuesta Tournament and face Solano next. Solano is coming off of a 50-72 loss to host Cuesta. The two face off Saturday at 3:00 pm at Cuesta. The loser goes home and the winner moves on to the consolation championship.
