San Luis Obispo, Calif. – Cypress had the chance to come away from the Cuesta Tournament with a winning record and a trophy but came up just short losing to West Valley 65-76. Freshman forward Jermaal Johnson grabbed 8 rebounds to lead Cypress on the boards.

The Chargers could not catch West Valley allowing their starting guard to score 29 while just two Cypress players scored in double-digits. Freshman guard Khalif Boyd is proving to be an offensive threat with 19 points going 7 for 9 from the field, his third double-digit game in a row. Kourtney Maxim reached the same milestone with 15 points going 6 for 9 from the field.

The Chargers return home for a few days of practice before heading south to Palomar. Palomar is 1-1 this season coming off of a nine point win over Cerritos. The two face off Thursday at 5:30 pm at Palomar.
