One Point Loss Sends Cypress to 3rd Place Game

El Cajon, Calif. – Cypress was on the verge of their second straight win and a trip to the Grossmont Tournament Championship game but came up just short. College of the Desert outscored Cypress by just one point to hand the Chargers an 87-88 loss. Freshman guard Clinton Williams led Cypress with his second straight double-double with a team high 20 points and 10 rebounds while adding 5 assists.
Williams’ scoring was bolstered by double digit scoring from five of his fellow freshmen Chargers. Guard Eric Butler was second in line with 17 points. Center Rodrigo Carbajal was two rebounds away from a double-double of his own scoring 11 points with 8 rebounds and dished out 4 assists. Guards Khalif Boyd and Orlando Isais added 10 points each.
The Chargers’ loss moves them to the third place game of the Grossmont Tournament where they will face off with L.A. Southwest. L.A. Southwest lost to Chaffey 87-118 to reach the third place game. The two face off Sunday at 4:00 pm.
