Chargers Moved to Consolation Bracket

Santa Barbara, Calif. – Cypress headed north to Santa Barbara to defend their tournament championship from last season. The Chargers slipped early losing 54-43 to Allan Hancock to open the weekend. Freshman guard Ted Wolf came off the bench to pace Cypress with 13 points going 3 for 5 from the three-point line scoring 13 points on the night.

The Chargers led early 39-34 at halftime and built on it with an eleven point lead with just 12:33 left in the game. The Chargers let Allan Hancock come back into the game allowing a 20-5 run overtaking Cypress. Freshman center Rodrigo Carbajal led Cypress in scoring with 14 points going 7 for 7 from the field while grabbing 6 rebounds. Freshman forward Dwayne Wright added 13 points going 4 for 4 from the field as Cypress’s second perfect shooter on the night. Freshman guard Clinton Williams contributed 11 points and 5 assists and 7 rebounds.

The Chargers move into the consolation bracket to face Oxnard College. Oxnard is winless so far this season coming off of a 56-98 loss to Mt. Sac. The teams will face off for a chance at the consolation championship game Friday at 3:00 pm at Santa Barbara.
