Five Point Victory Sends Cypress to Consolation Championship

Santa Barbara, Calif. – Cypress was in a do or die situation at the Santa Barbara Tournament needing to win or be sent home. The Chargers were able to pull it out by just five points winning 65-60 to defeat Oxnard. Freshman guard Khalif Boyd led all Chargers with 17 points and 6 rebounds.
Cypress led early with a 34-27 lead at half and held it through the second half for the five point victory. Freshman guard Clinton Williams was the only other Charger in double digits with 10 points. Freshmen Ted Wolf and Dwayne Wright combined for 16 points and 11 rebounds.
The Chargers improve to 3-9 moving on to the consolation championship of the Santa Barbara Tournament to face Grossmont College. Grossmont is 1-9 this season coming off of their only win thus far. The teams face off at 3:00 pm at Santa Barbara Saturday.
