Second Half Rally Not Enough for the Chargers

Butler scored a team high 17 points Wednesday night.
Cypress only able to score 22 in the first half.

Torrance, Calif. – Cypress headed to Torrance Wednesday night for a pre-Turkey showdown with El Camino. After slipping into a big deficit, Cypress charged back in the second half but fell short losing 97-72. Sophomore guard Eric Butler led Cypress in scoring with 17 going 8 for 13 from the floor before fouling out.

The Chargers fell behind early only able to score 22 points in the first half for a 47-22 deficit to end the half. Cypress woke up in the second half picking up the scoring pace but was unable to catch the high scoring Warriors. Sophomore guard Khalif Boyd was right behind Butler with 16 points. Freshman forward Devon McDonald grabbed a team high 10 boards while freshman guard DuWayne King scored a season high 15 points.

Cypress falls to 2-4 and has a week off before heading to Rio Hondo to face the Road Runners. Rio Hondo is 2-4 as well coming off of a three point loss to East Los Angeles. Rio will host Cypress next Wednesday at 5:00 pm.
