Cypress Eases by Host San Diego Mesa

Butler reached a double-double Friday afternoon.
Chargers move on to Consolation championship.

San Diego, Calif. – After a disappointing loss to open the tournament, Cypress came back on Friday eager to earn a win. Cypress faced the host Olympians of San Diego Mesa and took an 82-66 win. Sophomore guard Eric Butler paced Cypress with a double-double scoring 12 points and ten rebounds with four assists.

Cypress shot well throughout the game going 48.1% from the field. Freshman forward Sean Starkey led Cypress with 24 points and six rebounds. Sophomore guard Khalif Boyd followed with 18 points while freshman forward Thomas Lopshire had 10 points.

The Chargers improve to 8-9 and must prepare to face Grossmont for the consolation championship. Grossmont got to the consolation championship via a win over East Los Angeles 83-67. The teams face off Saturday at noon at San Diego Mesa.
