Cypress, Calif. – Cypress hosted their final game of the first round of conference facing a tall Riverside squad for the first time this season. The Chargers fought through the first half but the size differential proved to be too much losing to Riverside 82-60. Sophomore guard
Eric Butler paced Cypress with ten points and two assists.
Riverside started the game with the first basket but Cypress quickly took the lead as freshman guard
Sean Starkey hit a three-point jumper. Cypress held the lead over the next eight minutes leading by as much as six. Riverside never went away and took back the lead for good at the 10:22 mark going on a 16-2 run. The game became run-and-gun with Riverside pulling away heading into the half with a big 41-23 lead. The Tigers maintained their cushion in the second half for the eventual 22 point win.

Devon McDonald led Cypress in scoring with 18 points, seven rebounds, and three steals. Sophomore guard
Eric Butler followed with ten points. Starkey and freshman guard
DuWayne King combined for 15 points and ten rebounds.
Cypress falls to 11-14 and 2-4 in conference. They start the second round of conference Friday for a rematch against Santa Ana. The last time they met, Santa Ana pulled out the victory 90-83. The Dons are 1-5 in conference on a five game losing streak. The two will rematch Friday at Santa Ana at 7:30 pm.
