Chargers Debut with Consolation Championship

McDonald had a double-double Saturday afternoon.
Cypress starts their season 1-1 in mini-tournament.

El Cajon, Calif. – The 2008-09 Chargers started their season at Cuyamaca for a two game mini-tournament. Cypress was just edged out by the host team 69-66 before winning in the consolation championships 64-59 over Imperial Valley. Sophomore forward Devon McDonald led Cypress in the final game with a double-double with 18 points and 17 rebounds.

Cypress was just edged out of a first game win Friday night by three points. Freshman forward Devon Adams led Cypress with 17 points and nine rebounds. Freshman guard Nick Becker followed with 14 points.

The Chargers followed Saturday afternoon defeating Imperial Valley by five. Sophomore forward Sean Starkey backed up McDonald’s performance with twelve points.

The Chargers start their season with a 1-1 record and have a few days off before heading to Pasadena to take on the Lancers. Pasadena is coming off of a second place finish at the Ventura Tournament. The two meet up Wednesday night at 7:00 pm at Pasadena.
