Poor Shooting Topples Cypress

Cypress, Calif. – The Chargers hosted Santa Ana Wednesday in their third and final matchup of the season. After losing then winning against Santa Ana, Cypress had a poor shooting night on the way to a 97-88 loss. Cypress shot just 33 percent from the field while Sana Ana made 54 percent of their attempts. Sophomore guard Tim Austin led Cypress with 25 points and six rebounds. Sophomore forward Devon McDonald also had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman guard Nick Becker put in four three-pointers and ended the night with 14 points. Sophomore forward Sean Starkey also added 14 points in just 15 minutes.

Cypress falls to 13-15 and 3-5 in conference. The Chargers have a bye Friday before traveling to Orange Coast to take on the Pirates. Cypress defeated the Pirates the first time around 109-82. The two meet up again Wednesday at Orange Coast at 5:30 pm.
