Second Half Surge Earns Chargers Home Win

Cypress, Calif. – The 2009-10 Chargers made their home debut Wednesday night taking on Pasadena. The Lancers blew Cypress out last season but the Chargers turned things around taking the 92-80 win. Freshman guard
Reggie Abrams had a breakout game leading Cypress with 30 points including four three-pointers while also nearing a double-double with nine assists.
Cypress took an early lead but allowed a late first half run by the Lancers who took the first half lead 40-37. After falling behind by as much as six in the second half, Cypress came back going on a 13-2 run midway through the second half. The Chargers then extended their lead scoring 55 second half points for the 12 point win thanks in part to Pasadena turnovers. Cypress outscored Pasadena 14-4 in points off of turnovers in the second half.
Five Chargers finished the night in double digits. Sophomore forward
Troy Baugh followed Abrams with 15 points and seven rebounds. Freshman forward
Devin Golston added a near double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore guard
Brett Spencer and sophomore forward
Brad Johnson both added 11 points each.
Cypress (3-1) will go on the road for a long stint beginning with El Camino next Wednesday after the Thanksgiving holiday. El Camino is 1-4 coming off of a 65-56 win over East Los Angeles. Cypress and El Camino will face off next Wednesday at 5:00 pm at El Camino.
