Strong Showing Moves Cypress into the State Championships

Beaumont, Calif. - Cypress and the top teams in Southern California faced off Monday hoping to earn a place at the State Championship tournament next week. The Chargers put up a strong performance with a team score of 755 over two rounds to finish fourth in the tournament. The top four teams advance to the State Championships next week. This will be the team’s first appearance since 2008.
Freshman Michael O’Neil was one of two Chargers to shoot 148 on the day finishing tied for 12th in the tournament. Sophomore Michael Ryan also shot a 148. The two were three strokes ahead of teammate sophomore Scott Sexton.
The Chargers will now head to SCGA Murrietta as a team next Monday to take on the top teams in the state vying for a State Championship.
