Gomez and Garrett Advance to Regionals

Cypress' Nick Garret and Paul Gomez advanced to the Regional Playoffs after solid performances at the OEC Tourney.

Chino Hills, Calif. - Nick Garrett and Paul Gomez will both be competing in the Regional Playoffs after qualifying in singles play at the Orange Empire Conference Tournament.

Garrett moved on after bouncing back from a first round 77 to shoot an impressive 71. Gomez went the opposite way when he came out of the gate with a 71, and finished with an 80. Ben Slobodien missed the cut by three strokes after shooting a 77 in the first round and an 80 in the second.

Orange Coast College won the Tournament with a 3-0 mark in team competition. The Pirates narrowly edged Irvine Valley by one stroke, 740-741, and Santiago Canyon by two strokes (742). Saddleback came in fourth after shooting 758 as a team. Coast's Matt Parkovich shot a tournament-low 70. Gomez and Garrett tied for the second-lowest rounds of the day after each shot a 71.
