Orange, Calif. – Cypress faced a tough defense, taking on the same Santiago Canyon team they shutout 1-0 earlier this season. Cypress let goals slip by early and could not catch up in the 3-1 loss. Freshmen midfielder Juan Castro was the only scorer for Cypress.
The Charger defense failed them in the first half allowing two goals. After halftime, freshmen forward Bryan Arguello sent a pass to Castro who scored cutting the lead to one. The Charger push for an equalizer fell short and the Hawks scored their third goal deep in the second half. Freshmen goalkeeper John Serna made 7 saves.
Cypress (8-8-4, 4-6-3) plays their last Orange Empire Conference game on Friday against Irvine Valley. Cypress defeated the Lasers 1-0 earlier this season. The two face off at 3 pm in Irvine.
