Divers Show Up Strong in Orange Empire Conference Championships

Torrance, Calif. - Cypress sent three male divers to the Southern California Dive Championships Friday and Saturday and showed strong performances within the conference. Freshman Christopher Carlberg led Cypress placing third in the 1 Meter and 3 Meter dive competitions in the Orange Empire Conference. His score of 200.30 in the 1 Meter competition landed him in fifth place overall in Southern California giving him a berth to the State Championships. His 212.20 score in the 3 Meter dive placed him seventh overall making him the first alternate for the State Championships.

Sophomore Daniel Hackworth also had a strong performance scoring 188.35 in the 1 Meter for fourth in the conference and making him the first alternate for State. His 160.80 score in the 3 Meter placed him fourth in conference there as well. Freshman Lance Farr finished with a 151.10 and 128.45 in the 1 Meter and 3 Meter respectively, good enough for fifth and sixth in conference.

Carlberg and Hackworth have a couple weeks to prepare for State Championship competition that begins Thursday May 1st at Saddleback
