Cypress Defeats Fullerton at Home

Cypress finished the day with two wins, one over Fullerton, and one over Santa Ana who forfeited.

Cypress, Calif. - Cypress hosted their first and only home meet of the year Wednesday taking on Fullerton. The Chargers emerged with a strong win defeating the Hornets 136-63. They also collected a win over Santa Ana who forfeited. Freshman diver Angel Quezada led Cypress starting the day with a victory in the dive competition.

The Chargers turned in strong performances in each race and finished first in eight. Sophomore Sam Fandrich turned in a winning time of 10:35.92 in the 1000 yard free. He also won the 500 yard free race with a time of 4:58.22. Freshman Adrian Hernandez picked up a win in the fastest race of the day with a time of 25.44. He also finished second in the dive competition. Sophomore Sonny Hoang won with a time of 2:11.74 in the 200 yard IM and then won in the 200 yard breast with 2:24.15. Freshman Eric Bendicion finished first in the 100 yard free with the only sub minute time of 57.30. Hernandez, sophomore Garrett Young, and freshmen Patrick Intal and Brandon Kelley finished first in the 400 yard free relay. Fandrich, Bendicion, Hoang, and freshman Sean Wright finished first in the 400 yard Medley relay.

Cypress has no time off as they travel to Cuesta for the Invitational this weekend.
