Benito came to Cypress to take over his first collegiate head coaching job after five seasons at conference rival Riverside College. He immediately made an impact taking over a dilapidated program earning two conference championships and two playoff appearances in just his first three years. Benito's accomplishments have been recognized by fellow coaches and was named the Orange Empire Conference Coach of the Year in each of his first three years. He splits his time between the Men and Women's program for the Chargers.
At Riverside, Benito served as the Tigers’ men’s and women’s assistant coach. While at Riverside, he was part of the staff that kept the women’s program’s success on track while turning around the men’s program earning a conference championship in 2006 and two top ten finishes in 2006 and 2007.
Benito played at Riverside while earning his associates degree before moving on to University of La Verne to earn his bachelors in kinesiology and then to Cal Baptist where he earned his masters in kinesiology as well. Benito also keeps busy working for the USTA/SCTA as the Area League Commissioner for Junior Team Tennis.
