Cypress Shakes up the Rankings, Remains Undefeated

Cypress, Calif. - Cypress hosted the sixth ranked Lasers Thursday afternoon hoping to upset IVC and keep their unbeaten streak going. The eighth ranked Chargers did just that with a commanding 8-1 win. Sophomore Derek Porter paced Cypress with a 6-0, 6-2 win in the number five spot and a 8-1 in the number two doubles spot with partner freshman Gabriel Dias.

Sophomore Shane Patel started things off for Cypress with a win in the number two spot 6-2, 6-1 to get things off to a good start. Dias followed with a win in the fourth slot followed by Porter. Sophomore Deondre Moss won in the third slot right before sophomore Greg Druckenmiller locked in the overall match win with a hard fought three set win in the sixth position. Cypress finished it up with a clean doubles sweep.

Cypress (5-0, 2-0) will have a tougher challenge coming up hosting third ranked Orange Coast on Tuesday. The two will face off Tuesday at Cypress at 2:00 pm.
