Cypress, Calif. - The Chargers hosted Glendale Wednesday afternoon in a rescheduled match against the Vaqueros. The 7-2 win margin is deceptively large as five singles matches went to three set battles.
Sophomore Shane Patel earned the first point of the day coming back from a 6-4 loss to win the next two. Sophomores Deondre Moss and Greg Druckenmiller and freshmen Danilo Kelen and Victor Peinado followed with two more three-set wins as Peinado clinched the win with Cypress’s fifth point.
The Chargers went into doubles up 5-1 and won in the first and second spots of doubles for the five point win.
Cypress (10-0) has no time off as they go directly into tomorrow’s home match against Riverside. The Chargers slipped by the Tigers 5-4 earlier this season. The two 2009 OEC co-Champs face off again with big conference implications on the line Thursday at 2:00 pm at Cypress.
