Cypress Sweeps Riverside, Has Sights Set on OEC Championship

Cypress, Calif. - The Chargers faced off against their fellow 2009 OEC co-Champions Thursday in their second meeting this season. After defeating Riverside 5-4 just a week ago, Cypress repeated the score to sweep RCC. Sophomore Shane Patel led Cypress winning in both singles and doubles clinching the win with partner sophomore Deondre Moss in the number one doubles slot.
Cypress started behind dropping the first two singles matches until Patel finished with a win. Sophomore Greg Druckenmiller came in with a win in the six spot to tie it up at 2-2. Freshman Danilo Kelen and Moss finished singles strong with wins to end the singles rounds with Cypress up 4-2. The Chargers had to win just one in doubles to clinch the match but came up short in the first two finishes. It all came down to the number one doubles match with Patel and Moss. The two battled to a 9-8 win ending the day in Cypress’s favor.
Cypress (11-0, 6-0) remains undefeated and in sole possession of first place in conference. They have a day off before traveling to third ranked Mt. San Jacinto for a Saturday match on the road at 2:00 pm.
