Cypress, Calif. - Cypress traveled to Mt. San Jacinto over the weekend hoping to keep its historic 11-0 unbeaten streak going. The Chargers were spent after two hard-fought matches earlier in the week and fell to the Eagles 8-1 suffering their first loss of the year. Freshman Danilo Kelen earned the sole point for Cypress winning 6-4, 6-2 in the fifth spot. Head coach Jeff Benito was disappointed with his team’s performance, “Our team came out flat and really didn't play to their potential. If we are to advance further in the season, this is the type of team that we are going to have to overcome."
Cypress falls to 11-1 on the season and has a few days to recuperate before returning to conference play. The Chargers will head to Fullerton on Tuesday at 2:00 pm. Cypress defeated Fullerton 8-1 the first time they met this season.
