Cypress, Calif. - Cypress played in their second straight match Wednesday hosting NCAA Division III Amherst College. The Chargers were unable to overcome the four-year program suffering their second loss of the year 8-1. Sophomores Shane Patel and Deondre Moss earned Cypress’s only point on the day with a 9-7 win in the number one doubles spot.
The Chargers battled in singles but were swept 6-0. Patel and freshman Radek Rosiak fought to three set losses. "We had our opportunities and we were even leading in a lot of the matches,” said head coach Jeff Benito, “but Amherst proved to be the better team today. We have to refocus quickly if we are to hold off Orange Coast."
Cypress (13-1) has almost a week off to prepare for second place Orange Coast. Cypress defeated OCC 7-2 earlier this season. The two meet again Tuesday at 2:00 pm at Orange Coast.
