Cypress Men's Tennis Earns Top Seed in Regional Playoffs

The Chargers will host Glendale in the opening round of the SoCal Regional Playoffs on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

Cypress, Calif. - The Cypress College men's tennis team was selected as the No. 1 seed in the 2011 CCCAA Dual Team Men's Tennis Southern California Regional Championship. The Chargers will host No. 6 seed Glendale at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in an opening round match at Cypress College.
The Chargers (20-2, 10-0) were rewarded for their outstanding season which included a perfect Orange Empire Conference record for the second straight season, as well as a third consecutive OEC title dating back 2009. Cypress earned the top honor by beating out a qualified list of contenders that included: No. 2 seed College of the Desert (Foothill Conference Champion), No. 3 seed Ventura College (Western States Conference Champion), No. 4 seed Mt. San Jacinto College (Foothill Conference Runner-Up), No. 5 seed Cerritos College (South Coast Conference Champion), No. 6 seed Glendale College (Western State Conference Runner-Up), No. 7 seed San Diego Mesa College (Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Champion), and No. 8 seed Orange Coast College (Orange Empire Conference Runner-Up).
As the No. 1 seed, Cypress can potentially host all three rounds of the Southern California Regionals leading up to the State Championship Tournament that will matchup the winners of the North and South brackets in the State Championship Final.
