Dr. Alejandro Briseno, Assistant Professor of Polymer Science and Engineering at the
University of Massachusetts, Amherst, will be speaking on campus, Thursday, March 1st,
1:30 PM - 3:30 PM, in HUM 136. His experience growing up in East LA, attending Cal
State LA, and the challenges he overcame provide a powerful message for all students, and
his standing in the field of polymer science is an inspiration.
Dr. Briseno was part of the STEM lecture series at CSU Channel Islands and Oxnard College
and speaks regularly at universities across the nation, most recently at Stanford and Cal Poly

The Diversity Committee is funding a portion of Dr. Briseno's costs, and his presentation is
supported by the Chemistry Club, Club L.E.A.D., and Culturas Unidas.
